Ito ang sinabi ni Duterte: “I’ll give you an example, publicly, Ongpin, Roberto. Malakas kay (Ferdinand) Marcos noon, trade minister, I think. Malakas and successful. (During) Ramos he was a hanger on and kay Gloria (Arroyo), PNoy. Now he owns the online [gambling]” (3 August 2016, Inquirer, http://tinyurl.com/hlg7yj2)
– A day after ng sinabi ni Duterte, ang SEC ay nagpahiwatig na itutuloy nila ang criminal case laban kay Ongpin kaugnay sa insider trading. Paliwanag ng SEC: “Ongpin’s appeal refers to the administrative aspect of the insider trading case and is separate and distinct from the criminal action which the SEC may file before the Department of Justice. The accused in such action shall upon conviction suffer a fine of not less than P50,000 nor more than P5 million or imprisonment of not less than seven years nor more than 21 years or both at the discretion of the court.” (5 August 2016, PhilStar, http://tinyurl.com/htvg7r8)
The company’s share prices plunged 43.06 percent on 8 August to P5.13 per share on 9 August. (9 Aug 2016, PhilStar, http://tinyurl.com/j9gwehs).
IKALAWA: Sabi ng #SilentNoMore nag-offer daw si Ongpin na i-donate ang 49% stake niya sa PhilWeb para i-save ang 6,000 na tao from losing their jobs. August 17 daw iyan.
Sabi ni Andrea Domingo, “”[Duterte] does not want online gaming or hybrid games like this to proliferate in the country because it caters mostly to the indigent or needy people. Its audience are likely to be lower CDE (economic classes).” (16 August 2016, ABSCBN, http://tinyurl.com/horu9u2).
Noong August 25, sabi ni Duterte na pwedeng i-restore ang online gambling: “[Duterte] is willing to allow a resumption of online gambling if correct taxes are paid and gaming parlors are far from schools and churches” (24 August, GMA 7, http://tinyurl.com/zclrgx9).
(19 September, Inquirer, http://tinyurl.com/jxzwsqc)
Ibinenta ni Ongpin ang kanyang shares kay Araneta dahil nga “Pagcor rejected all his offers just to have PhilWeb’s license renewed” (5 October 2016, Rappler, http://tinyurl.com/j2ctmtm)
Ang Silent No More ay silent tungkol dito.
IKAAPAT: Sabi ng SilentNoMore, dahil 14 php per share na ang Philweb, Araneta and Marcos are now 8 billion richer in a few weeks.
“In a regulatory filing, PhilWeb reported a 62.8 percent drop in its net income to P229 million (US$4.59 million) in the third quarter of 2016 as a result of the closure of its e-Game cafes following the non-renewal of its gaming license” (21 November 2016, CalvinEyre, http://tinyurl.com/gtjocf8)
At lalong papaano silang 8 billion richer kung si Araneta ay still in the process of acquiring Ongpin’s stocks?? “Araneta, through his firm Gregorio Araneta Inc. (GAI), is still in the process of acquiring Roberto V. Ongpin’s 771.651 million PhilWeb shares, equivalent to a 53.76 percent stake, for P2.60 per share or a total transaction value of P2 billion” (13 November 2016, Manila Times, http://tinyurl.com/zzr5z89).
Gregorio Araneta III is also the cousin of Manuel Araneta Roxas, and if Silent No More wants to make assumptions based on family relations, then it would be also be fair to say that his purchase favors the Araneta family just as much as it did the Marcoses – ed
