DAVAO CITY, February 22, 2017 — The International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) turned over some P30 million worth of aid to Davao City on February 21.
The Chinese delegation are here in the city to donate a school building worth $400,000 and a water pumping station amounting to $200,00,” city administrator Zuleika Lopez said in a statement.
Lopez said the donation is a step closer towards the realization of Mayor Sara Duterte’s thrust to provide the basic needs of every Dabawenyo.
The Chinese visitors, led by Minister Song Tao, also paid a courtesy call to members of the City Council and were welcomed by the councilors and other city officials, led by Lopez.
In a message to the Chinese delegation, the mayor said she was grateful for the visit.
Thank you for responding to the invitation of our President (Rodrigo Duterte) to visit us in Davao, his home city,” Sara said in a message read by Lopez.
The mayor also said Dabawenyos and the Chinese have strong ties and Davao is proud of this shared friendship and history.
Aside from Song, the other members of the Chinese delegation to Davao City were: Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua; Yuan Zhibing, the Deputy Director General of IDCPC; Peng Xiubin, of the IDCPC Consular Office; Du Dingding, Director of IDCPC; Yu Jun, Director of Chinese Embassy; Zhao Qiang, Deputy Director of IDCPC; Cal Zhigang, Deputy Director of IDCPC (Interpreter); Liu Yongjie, Second Secretary of Chinese Embassy; Wu Lin,Third Secretary of Chinese Embassy; Xu Zhensui, Director General of the China Foundation of Peace and Development (CFPD); Tian Geng, Director of CFPD; and Yao Yuwen, Project Officer of CFPD.
