Tito Sotto sets new world record for stupidity with Sec. Taguiwalo “joke”

Tito Sotto is a prime example of why we should never again elect morons to any sort of elective position. After winning as vice mayor of Quezon City purely on the strength of his talent for toilet humor, Sotto has parlayed that early victory to into a lucrative political career. With a well-deserved reputation as one of the country’s most notorious senators. While Sotto’s capacity for crass behavior- as evidenced by his unconscionable actions in the rape of actress Pepsi Paloma – is well known, he still manages to shock people with the garbage that routinely comes out of the sewer that is his mouth.

His most recent transgression, which he has since backed away from by trying to pass of as merely a joke that no one understood, comes at the expense of the much-loved Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo and her two daughters. It was an attack as mindless as it was undeserved. It is the kind of completely random and pointless stupidity that only Sotto can deliver.

The fact is, whichever side you sit in the confirmation of Sec. Taguiwalo divide, Sotto’s unmanly comments about her personal life – referring to her single-motherhood as having been the result of “na-ano lang,” – has to be among the most idiotic, pointless, and fecklessly misogynistic comments ever uttered by a so-called senator in those formerly hallowed halls.

In a political career marked by historic lows, including such classics as the practice and defense of plagiarism, bigotry, and unmitigated incompetence, Sotto has somehow managed to find a way to dig himself deeper into the cesspool with this unprovoked attack on a 67 year old, single mother. And just when you thought it was safe to go back into the senate, this happens. Way to go Sotto, you just restored our faith in the boundless capacity of politicians for unmitigated stupidity. Here’s a medal for you.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with this guy? Someone should move to have him declared legally insane before he does anymore damage to an already wobbly institution. The way Sotto – not to mention his co-conspirators in the dumbing down of the Senate (namely Kiko Pangilinan, Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, Frank Drillon, Leila De Lima, and Sonny Trillanes) – is going, people won’t have to wait for Federalism to pass before they tear the senate down. Many are ready and eager to do it with their bare hands right now. And use the rubble to bury Sotto, et al alive in.

While many choose to blame the voters for electing this imbecile into office, in my opinion those who did nothing to actively oppose his candidacy must also share equally in the blame. After all, they are the ones who are supposed to know better. And yet they stood in the sidelines, to busy or apathetic to do anything about it. Which is precisely how we find ourselves in these types of clusterfucks again and again.

Thankfully, from the comments I’ve been seeing on social media, it seems that many people are now no longer content to just let things slide. There is now an active and growing desire to administer political retribution on the bumbling Sotto and his ilk. A storm is definitely coming as people slowly realize the power they hold with their one vote. A single vote that has been multiplied into millions by a shared common disgust over Sotto’s comment.

If anything good can come out of this, it is that it illustrates how one man’s idiocy can galvanize the nation into finally putting its foot down, and say no more. No more Sotto’s in the senate. No more Kiko, Bambam, or Risa. No more Frank, Sonny, or Leila. No more, no more, no more. Fuck all of you and the horses you rode in on.

While Sotto will not be running in 2019, that year’s election will be the true testing ground to see how strong the spirit of political activism that has the country currently in its grip truly is. Will the party bosses and their machinery win the day for the traditional politicians, or will the same groundswell of support that swept Rodrigo Duterte into power once again come into play?

There is no doubt that political scum like Tito Sotto are hoping that Filipinos will continue to remain stupid and vote for their kind for as long as they want. And they do have the money, organization, and track record of success to back up their arrogance. So if we want to knock them off their high horses, it really comes down to us showing these social parasites that their time for sucking the nation dry is up. To borrow Sotto’s words, panahon na para “ma-ano lang” din kayo mga putang ina nyo.
