Therma South, Inc. (TSI) has pledged to protect two water bodies that traverse inside the 300-Megawatt Davao Baseload Power Plant which straddles Binugao, Toril, Davao City and Inawayan, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

At the tripartite signing ceremony held on May 16, 2017 at the power plant, TSI Reputation and Stakeholder Manager Jason Magnaye said adopting the Inawayan River and Macaring Creek was “an opportunity for us to come together (to ensure) the continued health of these water bodies.”

“This will benefit not only TSI but also the residents of Binugao and Inawayan. That’s primarily the reason this agreement is being signed multi-party,” he added.

Watch Magnaye talk about how TSI — a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower Corporation — has already made initial steps to protect the Inawayan River and Macaring Creek:

The memorandum of agreement was signed by TSI Vice Pesident and Plant Manager Engr. Velentin Saludes III and representatives from the Environment Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Office 11 and the barangay councils of Binugao and Inawayan.

For his part, Saludes said TSI wants to ensure the cleanliness of the water bodies in order to preserve the future generations.

“Water is life, and when we protect our water, we protect the generations to come.”

Watch Saludes talk about TSI’s plans for TSI’s water resources:
