DAVAO CITY —- Presidential top aide Secretary Christopher “Bong” Go on Monday, September 10, said he has never been involved in corruption in government, adding that corruption claims against him involving their family-owned construction business are mere “politically motivated attacks.”
“Hindi pa po ako ipinapanganak, nandiyan na po ang negosyo ng pamilya ko. Ang importante, meron ba akong pinakialaman? Meron ba akong ginalaw? Wala,” said Special Assistant to the President Go in a media interview at Pidoks, Davao City.
“Another bloated nanaman na storya kasi ganun ‘yun eh ‘pag political season… Panahon na eh, siraan na. It’s politically motivated,” he added.
Secretary Go said that while he can’t keep his family from doing business, he has never used his political influence to help the said family-owned CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders thrive.
“Biruin mo, for 15 years pinagbawalan ko ang pamilya ko na pumasok sa City Hall. Sabi ko sa kanila, ‘Kung papasok kayo sa City Hall, ako ang aalis,” he said.
“Kahit nga ngayon na pwede kong gamitin ang impluwensiya ng ating Pangulo, hindi ko ginawa. That’s because I observe delicadeza,” he added.
Go further noted that the said family businesses CLTG Builders and Alfredo Builders “did not even reach top 10” among the list of top construction companies in Davao City.
The Secretary also denied claims that their family-owned business has had deals with the government amounting to billions. “Malicious ‘yun, biruin mo, billions in just 10 years?” He said.
“Politically motivated ‘yan. Sigurado ‘yan, para siraan lang,” he added.
Go reiterated he has no plans of running for the senate, noting that attacks against him are to be “expected” being President Rodrigo Duterte’s top aide.
When asked if he would be ready to face a hearing to disprove the corruption claims, Secretary Go said he is ready to face a hearing at any time to speak “the truth.”
“Bukas kaagad, para magkaaalaman na kung sino ang nagsisinungaling,” he stressed.
Amid corruption allegations, Secretary Bong Go said he is busy visiting fire victims around the country, adding that he is also personally working at improving government health care systems to aid the poor Filipinos.
