MANILA, April 15, 2017 (PNA) — Tropical Depression Crising has slightly intensified and is forecast to make landfall over Samar on the afternoon of Black Saturday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

‘Crising’ has maximum winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 68 kph, and is heading west northwest at 22 kph.

It was last eyed at 220 km. east of Guian, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA expects moderate to occasionally heavy rains within a 250-km. diameter of ‘Crising’.

Meanwhile, PAGASA has issued tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) number 1 over the following:

  • Sorsogon
  • Albay
  • Camarines Sur
  • Catanduanes
  • Burias Island
  • Romblon
  • Masbate (including Ticao Island)
  • Aklan, Capiz
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Biliran
  • northern portion of Leyte.

Residents of these areas are warned against possible landslides and flash floods.

The weather agency said there is a possibility that TCWS 1 will also be raised over Camarines Norte, Marinduque, and Mindoro before noon.

For Saturday’s weather forecast, PAGASA said rains with gusty winds may prevail over eastern Visayas, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorogon.

Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms that could trigger flash floods and landslides will be experienced over Caraga and northern Mindanao.

Southern Quezon, Marinduque and the rest of the Bicol region, Visayas, and Mindanao may have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds will blow from east to southeast over northern Luzon and the eastern section of Mindanao, and coming from east to northeast over southern Luzon and Visayas.

Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from east to northeast, with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina C. Arayata/PNA)
