MANILA, November 29, 2017 — President Rodrigo Duterte has issued an order that effectively integrates the functions of the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC) with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

Under Executive Order (EO) No. 47 signed on November 24, 2017, the NHCP will assume the management of the People Power Monument to ensure its continued maintenance and upkeep.

The NHCP will also provide Secretariat support to the EPPC.

However, the planning, organizing, and implementation of activities to commemorate the 1986 EDSA Revolution remain with the EPPC.

The President also appointed the NHCP Chairman to concurrently serve as ex officio Chairman of the EPPC.

Under the EO, the President will appoint four other members from the private sector and will choose from among its members the Vice-Chairman of the EPPC.

The funding necessary for the implementation of the EO will be charged against the current appropriation of the NHCP. (PCO-Content)
