DAVAO CITY, June 9, 2017 — His visit to the frontline troops in Marawi City postponed, President Rodrigo Duterte instead visited another nearby military camp in the midst of ongoing skirmishes between government troops and members of the Maute Group.

The fighting is entering its fourth week next week, the same amount of time Mindanao has been under a state of Martial Law.

Duterte visited the troops of the 4th Infantry Division headquarters in Camp BGen. Edilberto Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City and assured the troops of the full might of the Philippine government.

The President regularly visits the troops and attends the wake of soldiers who die in battle.

Earlier this week, President Duterte’s visit to Camp Ranao in Marawi was cancelled, with officials citing inclement weather as the reason.
