DAVAO CITY, April 15, 2017 — President Rodrigo Duterte visited around 6,000 Qatar-based overseas Filipinos, according to the Presidential Communications Office.

Earlier this week, President Duterte said he has ordered the creation of an agency dedicated for OFWs.

The Philippine Embassy estimates there are around 222,712 Filipinos with valid working visas staying in Qatar, according to the PCO.

They are also the fourth largest foreign community and have greatly contributed to the state’s development, especially in the fields of construction, oil and gas, hospitality, and health care services.

Duterte is on a three-nation tour of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.
