Asian Artists Agency, Inc., on Monday Evening, conducted the social media launch party of talent Miko & Gab’s debut single, ‘Hugot‘.

The launch party was held at the Asian Artists Agency, Inc. (AAAI) office in Quezon City, following closely after Miko & Gab’s successful Manila-Tacloban-Borongan Tour.

The single was launched nationwide last August, and aired on MOR 101.9, and has since aired on Wish 107.5, Tee Radio, and Pinas FM 95.5. The ‘Hugot’ music video is available for viewing on the Boy Abunda Official facebook page, and is also airing on MYX TV. ‘Hugot’ is available for download on iTunes and Spotify.

The duo is the newest addition to the AAAI family, having started in August of this year, 2017, and signing a recording deal with Star Magic. The contract signing was the first public appearance of Miko & Gab as a duo. The duo is composed of Gabriel Umali, who is from Quezon City, and Miko Juarez, from Toledo, Cebu. Prior to their debut as a duo, Miko & Gab appeared as competitors on ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Boyband Superstar; Gab made it to the show’s Top 20, and Miko made it all the way to the show’s Top 12.

“We’ve become close during the contest because Gab was with my siblings watching me perform after he got eliminated,” Miko shares. “Then nung ma-out ako madalas na kaming magkasama manood ng mga shows and we do covers together with my brothers and sister.”

Miko & Gab have previously appeared at the MOR Pinoy Music awards 2017 at the Kia Theater, during the half-time break of the Star Magic Oppo All-Star Game, on the Net 25 Letters and Music show, as guest hosts on MYX TV alongside VJ Debbie, at the Manila Bulletin Acoustic Friday, and alongside Kim Chiu during her ‘Chinita Princess’ grand album launch at the SM North SkyDome last September 28.

Miko & Gab have named Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys, N’sync and One Direction as musical influences. Miko also admires his elder brother Anton, who composed Hugot, and Song for Marawi, a musical piece dedicated to the people of the war-ravaged city in Mindanao. The song is set to be performed by Kapamilya artists, including Miko & Gab.

Prior to joining Pinoy Boyband Superstar, and forming the Miko & Gab duo, Gab was a member of a school dance troupe in Quezon City. The troupe was set to participate in an international dance competition in Sydney but lacked funds. His team captain suggested that he join Pinoy Boyband Superstar so that if he won, he could afford his ticket.

Miko belongs to a musically-inclined family with his dad as his greatest influencer. His aunt from paternal side, Beverly Juarez, was a popular singer in their hometown Cebu before she settled down. Dionne Monsanto (known for her role as Lucy Villadolid in Tubig at Langis for which she earned the moniker, “Bida sa Sampalan”) is Miko’s aunt from his mom’s side.

He was in Canada when he learned about the singing search on the Kapamilya network. He wasted no time flying back to Manila to audition, hoping to get a spot and realize his dream to be a singing star.

Miko has a separate fanbase from his stint on Pinoy Boyband Superstar, called the ‘Mikonatics

Guest artists present at the launch included Selena Marie – The Ukelele Girl, the Mastermind Dance Crew who have performed as backup for Miko & Gab at multiple events, Wilbert Ross, and Miko’s younger sister and upcoming starlet, Aiana Juarez.
