DAVAO CITY — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) – Davao is set to file a case against an arrested illegal recruiter on Monday.
CIDG field unit chief, Maj. Milgrace Driz on Sunday said the case against Aisha Manayaga Shaikh is ready for filing through inquest proceeding.
Shaikh will be facing charges for violation of the Labor Code of the Philippines and the Migrant Workers Act.
Shaikh, 33, was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the CIDG together with personnel of the San Pedro Police at her residence in Ciudad de Esperanza in Cabantian, Buhangin District on late Friday afternoon.
Driz said Shaikh was caught in the act of receiving marked money from the complainants/applicants to work abroad.
She said Shaikh is not authorized to recruit and receive money for processing or for any purpose when the CIDG verified with Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
Driz said the operatives also confiscated from Shaikh about PHP15,000 cash (marked money), and three Philippine passports of her victims, whose names were withheld.
“The CIDG Davao City has a mandate to strengthen the implementation of the laws for the protection and promotion of the welfare of migrant workers, their families and overseas Filipino in distress and help in the enforcement of the Labor Code of the Philippines,” Driz said.
Driz called on the public to always be aware of any recruitment activities for their protection. (PNA)
