The Permanent Court of Arbitration on Tuesday handed down its ruling on the Philippines’ arbitration case — which includes  the legality of China’s “nine-dotted line” claim over the South China Sea — under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) against China related to maritime disputes in the South China Sea.
