Beauty queen-turned-actress Sophia Senoron recently made her film debut with “Walwal”. She stars alongside characters played by Elmo Magalona, Kiko Estrada, Jerome Ponce, Kisses Delavin, and Donny Pangilinan. But it seems her co-stars may be causing her more grief than gain.
Specifically, fans of Magalona have turned against Senoron, who won the title of Miss Multinational 2017-2018, because the pair become an on-screen love team. The problem seems to be that fans of Magalona aren’t exactly excited to see their idol paired with anyone but Janella Salvador. “Walwal” will be the first movie of Magalona without Salvador, his current screen partner
Despite the flood of negativity from netizens, Senoron maintains her queenly attitude. Senoron released a statement to the press wherein she emphasized the need for understanding by fans. According to Senoron, showbiz is “is a career that needs professionalism.”
She then went on to say how much she respects the relationship between Magalona and Salvador: “First movie ko ito, so ‘hindi yung unang inisip ko, landi agad. Gusto ko talaga mag-work. I respect Elmo. I respect the relationship so much. Kitang kita naman kung gaano ka-invested si Elmo in the relationship.”
However, she quickly backtracked when asked if she had just confirmed Elmo-Janella as official. Senoron handled the misstep smoothly by clarifying: “It’s not my place to say anything about the relationship since I am not part of the [relationship].”
Hopefully, that’ll be enough to end of the issue for fans.
Meanwhile, Salvador is busy promoting her own upcoming film, “So Connected”. In the flick, she’s paired with Hashtag member Jameson Blake.
“Walwal” is produced by Regal Films and will be in cinemas nationwide on June 27.
