MANILA — The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced a repackaging of sorts on Wednesday night by revealing its new logo.
A slight tweak of the old logo, SBP’s new symbol, simply composed of the ball design used in the original one plus a new font on the letters.
“The [new] SBP logo is slightly fresh,” said SBP president Al Panlilio in a press conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, the Gilas Pilipinas program also gets a logo overhaul.
The new Gilas logo resembles an eagle seemingly wrapping around a basketball.
“It’s more of a big change,” Panlilio said.
On why the changes were made, Panlilio said, “It signifies strength.”
The logo change came amidst Gilas’ gear-up for the FIBA World Cup. (PNA)
