MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will proclaim the winners of the senatorial and party-list elections in a single day but not on Sunday.
“For the schedule of proclamation, what was announced yesterday (Friday) that the proclamation is on Sunday won’t push through. We are not yet ready to proclaim. The schedule will be announced. It depends if we will be able to finish the Certificates of Canvass tomorrow,” Frances Arabe, assistant director of the Comelec’s Education and Information Department (EID), said in a press briefing on Saturday.
“The intention is to have it in one day but not at the same time. The proclamation for the party-list will be in the morning and then for the senators, it will be in the afternoon. So that is the plan,” she added.
Arabe said the poll body will announce the date of the proclamation once it has been set.
“It is still tentative because we really want to proclaim immediately after the completion of the canvassing. We will not provide any days in between without a completion so wait for our further announcements,” she said. (PNA)
