Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo is many things, but he’s definitely not one to stand down from a challenge. His career as a defense attorney has been marked with half a dozen cases that the entire nation would think were a challenge to take on, and now, he’s taken on the challenge presented by him by communist leader Renato Reyes, Jr., Secretary-General of Bagong Alwansang Makabayan or Bayan, to commute to work.

Panelo started his journey at 5:15 am in Marikina, and reached the gate of the Malacañang complex by 8:46 a.m. The entire journey involved jeepney rides and one motorbike hitch.

Two hours into his journey, Panelo shared a photo of himself aboard his third jeepney with the media, who he was actually avoiding with this leg of his journey. He originally means to board the LRT-2 from Gilmore Station, but decided to take a jeep instead when he saw media crews waiting for him.

He was then offered a ride by a motorcycle rider from the gate of Malacañang complex to the New Executive Building.

The dare started when Panelo dismissed the idea of Metro Manila being in the middle of a “mass transport crisis”.
