Views of endless seas. This is what you can expect on this three-hour (private car) drive from Davao City to Mati City, Davao Oriental. If a coastal drive is what you need then consider taking the trip! You can see this view upon entering Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.

You know when you’re near Mati City when you see this lovely sight. Even if I’ve been to Mati more times than I can remember, I always make it a point to take a photo of this iconic landmark – the Sleeping Dinosaur. Earlier this year when there was barely rain in Mindanao, this Sleeping Dino turned a dry brown and I’m so glad to see it alive and green.

Once you’ve crossed the diversion roads, turned right to a sign that says “Dahican” and kept driving until the cemented road disappears, you’re greeted by lovely coconut trees and pale limestone roads that almost look like sand. Views like this surround every corner, all you have to do is look.

Driving back on the concrete main road in Dahican, you’ll pass by this inviting sign of Dahican Surf Resort. It would be a mistake if you didn’t at least go inside and have a look at this laidback and super chill resort. Even if you’re only staying for the day, you can opt to spend an hour learning to surf or skim or hanging out at their beach front.

Even on a cloudy day, Dahican is still a sight to behold. Soft, white sand, warm blue waters and friendly locals who’ll even allow you to pose beside their boats with your mermaid fins – there definitely is no place like Dahican.

Imagine this with clear, sunny skies or better, tag your travel buddies and see this lovely paradise for yourself. Even if you’ve been here before, Dahican never fails to impress you with a whole new experience with every visit. Tip: if you want to try surfing, this month will be a good time to go.
