Get your tissues out, because this story might make you cry.
In May this year, our hearts were shattered when we first heard Buboy’s story. The aspin (Asong Pinoy), went viral on social media for his dedication and love.
Buboy was pictured patiently waiting by the door of his recently passed owner, a college professor, Carmelito Marcelo, who was taken by a stroke.
Obviously, the saying is true: Dogs are too good for us.
Buboy’s act of dedication earned him the nickname “Pinoy Hachiko”, after the famous Japanese Akita Hachiko who waited for his deceased master at a train station for years, waiting for him to come home.
Buboy was often seen with Marcelo around Mabalacat College City.
Unfortunately, a month after Marcelo’s demise, Buboy went over the rainbow bridge after bring hit by a vehicle.
Today, the Pinoy Hachiko has been immortalized with his own statue – just like the real Hachiko!
The Animal Kingdon Foundation posted a photo of Buboy’s statue at their animal cemetery in Capas, Tarlac. The artwork was built by Teambuilders Philippines.
What a good boy.
