MANILA, October 13, 2016 (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) today gave assurance that it will not condone the actions of two police officers who were allegedly involved in the killing of a leader of a non-government organization in Oriental Mindoro on Sunday night.
PNP Public Information Office (PIO) Chief and Spokesman Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said the Mindoro Oriental Police Provincial Office (PPO) immediately arrested and filed a criminal case against Senior Inspector Magdalino Pimentel Jr. and Inspector Markson Almeranez.
Pimentel is the chief of the Socorro PNP in Oriental Mindoro.
The two police officers have been placed under inquest proceedings before the Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro Prosecutor’s Office for the case of murder for the killing of Zenaida Luz, 51, the regional chair of the Citizens Crime Watch (CCW).
Carlos said the swift action was in compliance with the directive of PNP Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to cleanse the PNP ranks of corrupt and abusive police officers. (PNA)
