OCTOBER 25, 2016 — The local government of Davao City will be releasing P5 million in aid to six provinces affected by Typhoon Lawin (international name Haima).
The move was formalized during a City Council regular session held today.
In the resolution, the City Council authorized Mayor Sara Duterte to order the release of funds to be sourced from the city’s disaster fund, authorizing Mayor Sara Z. Duterte to order the release of the said funds.
Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Apayao, Mountain Province, and Kalinga will be receiving assistance of around P12,000 per individual.
The breakdown of aid is as follows:
- Cagayan: P1.8 million
- Kalinga: P1.6 million
- Ilocos Norte: P900,000
- Mountain Province: P350,000
- La Union: P200,000
- Apayao: P150,000.
The city regularly gives out from its own coffers during disasters in other areas, especially areas that do not immediately receive aid from the national government.
