On Day of Protest, Duterte makes fifth visit to Marawi

September 21, 2017 — President Rodrigo Duterte chose to visit the troops in  war-torn Marawi City today, which he had declared National Day of Protest.

Duterte talked to the troops and expressed his gratitude for their continuing efforts in quelling the terrorist threats in the city. He also provided the soldiers with grocery items as well as watches and eyewear.

Joining the President were Defense Secretary Delfin Loorrenzana, Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs Arthur Tabaquero, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año, and Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go.

The President also brought with him artists Paolo Santos, Jimmy Bondoc, and Arnel Ignacio to provide entertainment to the troops.
