DOTr cuts Cavite-Manila travel time down to 20 minutes with water jeepney service

The MV Island Sabtang water jeepney will travel between Cavite City and Lawton Port.

The Department of Transportation has launched a new initiative aimed at easing the worsening traffic congestion in the country’s capital region. “Water Jeepneys” are now available thanks to an initiative between the DOTr, MARINA, the Philippine Ports Authority and the Philippine Coast Guard. The new project would benefit commuters and travelers who ply the Cavite to Manila route, promising to cut the travel time down from 4 hours to just 15 minutes.

The new ferry routes would offer travelers a new way of reaching Manila. The terminal points are the Cavite City Port Terminal in Cavite City Hall and the CCP Port. Another Water Jeepney will also ply the Cavity City to Lawton Port route.

Both water jeepneys will be deployed during rush commuting times. Refer to the photos below to see their exact schedules.

Better yet, the service will be free of charge for all rides for the first month of its operations! From December 9, 2020 to January 9, 2020 interested riders will be able to avail of the exciting new mode of travel for no cost of fare.

The free fare initiative, called a “gift” from the DOTr, was made possible through the agency’s positive coordination with shipping companies Seaborne Shipping Company Inc. and Shogun Ships Co. Inc.
