Who do you think holds the secret to living a long life?
Why, the people who’ve lived the longest, of course. Even if they don’t know what it is, they’re clearly doing something right!
And that’s why author Dan Buettner sought out the regions of the world with the highest proportions of healthy centenarians and studied their lifestyles.
He found these havens of longevity all over the world – in Okinawa, Japan, in Sardinia, Italy and in Loma Linda, California, in the United States. So what’s the secret?
Drink yourself to a hundred
If a glass of red wine every now and then seems like an indulgence, you might be interested to learn that it’s actually very good for you. A glass of red wine with meals is one of the reasons why male Sardinians have such a high life expectancy.
The secret lies in the wine’s flavonoids, which can lower the incidence of heart disease and even certain cancers. Flavonoids can also be found in dark chocolate or brightly colored fruits and vegetables.
So what are you waiting for? Bottoms up!
