DAVAO CITY, December 1, 2016 (PNA) — President Rodrigo Duterte today dismissed speculation that he will declare martial law, saying it will “not really improve the lives of the Filipino people.”

The President also slammed people who spread speculations of martial law every time he raises his anger on controversial issues.

“Martial law? For what? For killing people? The military won’t accede to illegal orders,” he told participants of the 3rd ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) Local Government Summit at the SMX Convention Center here this afternoon

“We don’t get anything from martial law,” he added.

Duterte made the statement following allegations that the bombing in Marawi and the discovery of an improvised bomb near the United States Embassy in Manila were a prelude to the declaration of martial law by his administration.

“They think if I get angry I will declare martial law,” he said. (PNA)
