Duterte orders overtime for Yolanda relief

DAVAO CITY, January 25, 2017 — Ticked off by three years of “indolence,” President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered those working for the resettlement of Yolanda survivors to double efforts, and work over time if need be.

President Duterte was in Brgy. Sta Elena in Tacloban City, Leyte to oversee the distribution of certificates of eligibility for lot allocation (CELAs) to the eight representatives of the beneficiaries from eight resettlement sites in Tacloban, the Presidential Communications Office said.

According to Duterte, he was agitated by the pace of the work for the rehabilitation of the homes for the affected residents.

Responding to the delay, President Duterte ordered the directors working for rehabilitation to reduce the turn around time for transactions to 15 days for directors and 30 days for cabinet secretaries.

“By March, God willing, kung buhay pa tayong lahat, tapos na yan lahat,” President Duterte said.

Duterte also ordered officials working for the government to be the first to arrive in the office and the last one to leave.

If there was a need to add three more hours to work, “so be it,” he said.

“Tutal, bayad na kayo,” Duterte said.
