DAVAO CITY, July 12, 2017 — President Rodrigo Duterte personally rang the opening bell at the Philippine Stock Exchange Tuesday during the 10th anniversary of the listing of Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc.

Duterte said he fully supports the rise of the company, run by a fellow Dabawenyo.

“I congratulate Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Incorporated for its 10th listing anniversary. As mayor of Davao City I personally witnessed how it grew from a single gasoline station in the city into one of the fastest growing oil companies in the Philippines,” Duterte said.

“I am also grateful that you continue to share your success by heading socio-civic programs for the benefit of local communities.”

Duterte said the government is continuously pushing for reforms in government to support businesses such as Phoenix.

“In return, we in government are trying our best to create an environment conducive to investment and establish a harmonious working relationship with investors. As we resolve any new player in the downstream oil industry, in fact, in any industry can make it big and succeed. We also continue to institute reforms and implement policies that will — so that the economic growth becomes more sustainable. This is a part of our mission of reassuring shareholders to do business in the Philippines with ease.”
