Several concrete stalls in the Cotabato City public market were destroyed on Friday when a fire broke out at around 12:30 p.m.
According to Cotabato City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) spokesperson, Aldrin Nara, the fire originated from one of the concrete stalls along the market. Several others along Martinez St. were then set ablaze.
Luckily, no one was hurt and the blaze was declared under control just two hours after it started.
The same two-story market structure was completely destroyed by a huge fire just one year and two days prior.
The May 2018 fire destroyed more than 1,000 stalls. The estimated total cost of damages reached PHP15 million.
Firefighters and the city market administrator are not looking into what could have triggered the conflagration.
