Pia Cayetano leads ‘Bike for Hope’ in Davao on January 22
Former senator and bike enthusiast Pia S. Cayetano will lead hundreds of cyclists in an advocacy bike ride from Davao City to Tagum City, Davao Del Norte this Sunday, January 22.
Called ‘Bike for Hope,’ the bike ride seeks to promote road safety, environmental awareness and a healthy lifestyle.
Bikers groups from Mindanao and different regions across the country will join the former senator, who is currently the representative of the second district of Taguig City and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The bike ride will kick off this Sunday at 7:00 am from the SM Lanang parking lot in Davao City and follow a 50-kilometer route through Panabo City and the municipality of Carmen before entering Tagum City in Davao Del Norte. The bikers are expected to arrive at 9:30 am at the Davao Del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex (DDNSTC).
Bike for Hope is part of culminating activities for the annual multisport fundraising event of Cayetano’s Gabriel’s Symphony Foundation (GSF), which will be held from January 20-22 at the DDNSTC. The fundraiser will hold sports activities on triathlon, football, and track events for differently abled, indigenous and indigent children.
Also happening in Davao City is the Pinay in Action Forum for Coaches, Teachers and Parents on January 20, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the University of Southeastern Philippines, Davao City.  Cayetano will be one of the speakers in the forum that focuses on how parents, teachers and coaches can help ensure the holistic development of athletes.
