Team Philippines has sustained its dominance of the SEA Games for the second day of the competition. As of this writing, the host country has earned a total of 71 medals since the opening of the Games. These are 38 Golds, 20 Silvers, and 13 Bronzes.
With this number of awards, the Philippines is topping the Medal Tally leaderboards by a wide margin. Coming in second is Vietnam with 51 medals (15 Gold, 20 Silver, and 16 Bronze), and then Malaysia with 19 podium finishes (10 Gold, 2 Silver, and 7 Bronze).
Team Philippines got its first Gold medals on Day 1 thanks to amazing performances by John Chicano and Kim Mangrobang for the men’s and women’s triathlon events, respectively. Agatha Wong and Carlos Yulo then claimed their own Golds for the women’s wushu Taolu Taijiquan event and men’s artistic individual all-around gymnastics events, respectively. The Philippine contingent has also claimed 10 Golds in the Dance Sports category.
The Games will be held until December 11.
