With three days left in the competition, Team Philippines has already ensured their place as the overall champ of the 30th SEA Games.
Philippine Olympic Committee chair Steve Hontiveros said that the early gold rush of Team Philippines has secured them the champion title three days before the Games officially end. As of today, the host country’s athletes have won an amazing 88 gold medals.
“We got this. We are overall champions. Other countries don’t have much left to get gold medals from,” said Hontiveros.
Battling for second are Indonesia and Vietnam, who each hold 47 golds.
This Sunday is expected to hold another windfall of wins for the Philippines. The day will host boxing, softball, baseball, taekwondo, and other events where Team PH athletes will be competing.
