Billiards legend Efren "Bata" Reyes will be competing in the 30th SEA Games.

It was an easy win for world champion and sports legend Efren “Bata” Reyes against Punyawee Thongchai of Thailand during the carom tournament of the 30th South East Asian (SEA) Games held on December 3, Tuesday, at the Manila Hotel Tent.

Reyes, also known as “The Magician,” won against Thongchai with a score of 100-37 and will head straight to the semi-finals to vie for his very first gold medal in the SEA Games.

“Pipilitin kong talunin, pero magaling ‘yun. Baka mamaya, sumama din ang tira nun, baka gumanda tira ko, bumalik ‘yung tira ko, talunin ko siya,” said Reyes, whose fans cheered and roared loudly for him during the Opening Ceremony of the SEA Games.

It seems the world champion, now 65, never really lost his magic.

Reyes was one of the eight Filipino sports legends who raised the SEA Games Federation flag during the said ceremony.
