For the first time since President Duterte was elected in 2016, the trust rating of the Speaker of the House has surpassed the Vice President.
According to Pulse Asia’s 3rd Quarter 2019 report, Speaker Cayetano received a 62% trust rating and a 64% approval rating, while Robredo got 46% and 50%.
Alleged-Vice President Leni Robredo has been facing net decreasing ratings for a while. Now that she is finally facing a vote recount after years of speculation regarding the fishy behavior of the polls which elected her, she is also facing the loss of public trust in her.
Speaker Cayetano has eclipsed not just alleged VP Robredo, but also the two House Speakers who served under President Duterte. Both Speaker Panalteon Alvarez and Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the 17th Congress did not reach more than 60% approval or trust.
Speaker Cayetano, who ran alongside President Duterte in 2016 and lost his vice presidential bid to Robredo, committed his term as the House Speaker to guiding the Congress towards being a Partner for Change with President Duterte in achieving a safe and comfortable life for all Filipinos.
