A tropical depression will enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) within the next 24 hours, affecting areas in Mindanao, Palawan, and the Visayas.
In a weather advisory issued at 11 a.m. today (June 24, 2016), PAGASA said a Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside of Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was spotted at 1,620 kilometers east of Mindanao at 10 a.m.
It is expected to develop into a Tropical Depression and will enter PAR within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said. Its local code name will be “Ambo.”
At the same time, another LPA over the West Philippine Sea was estimated at 435 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales.
These two LPAs are embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which will bring occasional to frequent light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao today and onwards, the PAGASA advisory said.
